History
The Florida Medical Cannabis Physicians Association (FMCPA) is structured to support physicians and patients, tailored to their unique needs in the State of Florida. The FMCPA has been in development since 2022, and officially launched in September 2023.
The Florida Medical Cannabis Physicians Association’s parent organization is KadimaMed LLC. The Ohio Medical Marijuana Physicians Association (OMMPA) – also part of KadimaMed LLC – was founded in May 2019.
What We Do
The FMCPA works with state boards, serving as a 2-way conduit of information between board resources and physicians. We work on legislative issues with government officials and lobbyists, effectively channeling the collective voices of Florida’s medical cannabis physician community. We establish connections on behalf of our physician members with non-medical professionals working in the medical cannabis space. We maintain an awareness of the ever-changing requirements for Florida’s medical cannabis physicians and help our physician community to comply with them.
The FMCPA organizes regular meetings for our members and guests, to help our physicians stay informed and educated on medical and industry news, educational opportunities, compliance with state rules, legislative actions, market updates, new services, and so on. We organize focus groups to get closer to the needs of patients and their families, and we host a regular forum that allows physicians to work issues, seek help, share insights, and ramp up effectively. Additionally, we organize field trips to processors, growers, and dispensaries, to increase awareness of the upstream processes and product offerings.
The FMCPA develops and vets a list of Patient Care Coordinators, who can assist qualified patients in navigating the dispensary process, using their medications, and overcoming any lingering concerns with medical cannabis. We provide professional capacity to work other issues as identified by physicians and their teams, and provide support to help physician practices start-up and thrive. We benchmark issues and approaches with physicians in other states.
Our premise is that there is enough room in this field for all physicians to succeed; thus, collaboration and community building are our constant refrains.
